Carlyle is located in Southwestern Illinois approximately 50 miles straight east of St. Louis, Missouri. 

Carlyle, situated near the nation's center of population, is easily accessible viaInterstate highways 1-57, 1-64, and I-70.  Two major airports serve the community; Mid-America Airport at Scott AFB is 30 minutes away and the second, Lambert International Airport in St. Louis, is 70 minutes away.
     Carlyle is located within 350 miles of a population base of 38,605,800, or 15.2% of the U.S. population. 1996 figures show an available work force of 368,874 people within a 50-mile radius. 
     The city's proximity to the St. Louis metro area allows residents to enjoy the many cultural, educational, and entertainment activities offered in the metro area, while enjoying the additional benefits of living in a smaller community.
     Less than an hour's drive away, sports fans will find the St. Louis Baseball Cardinals, the Football Rams, the Hockey Blues, along with outstanding college basketball, soccer, racetracks, and auto racing.
